Cellulite (Saddle Bags) Surgery

Cellulite is an architectural skin disorder that causes dimpled and cottage-cheese skin most often appearing on the thighs, hips, buttocks and abdomen. This condition affects nearly 98% of women in their puberty years, as well as some men. Women more commonly develop cellulite because of the way that fat is distributed in the lower half of the body. Cellulite may also develop as a result of a loss of skin elasticity that comes with aging, post-pregnancy or weight gain.

Patients with cellulite may notice areas of bumpy, dimpled skin that resembles cottage cheese, which is actually caused by herniation and accumulation of fat deposits under the skin from the deeper layers that distorts its appearance, resulting in uneven and dimpled skin with rough skin texture. Dr Misbah Khan is one of the world’s leading physicians with a significant background in research and treatment of cellulite. Dr Khan has published her work in the world’s leading peer-reviewed journals regarding her research on cellulite. Treatment of Cellulite

Patients may see many treatments advertised for effective cellulite reduction, but many of these over-the-counter products do not live up to their claims. If patients have underlying obesity, it might contribute to worsening of the cellulite. Fortunately, there are certain treatments and life changes that can help reduce the appearance of the skin and improve the self-confidence of those affected with this condition. The simplest approach to reducing cellulite is to lose weight through a healthy diet and regular exercise, which provides patients with many additional health benefits as well. Although weight loss programs and exercise routines can help improve overall problem with obesity, weight loss has little or not affect on the cellulite.
Research done by Dr Misbah Khan has clearly shown that weight loss can sometimes worsen the appearance of cellulite, especially in lean women.

Other non-surgical treatments offered at Dr Khan’s office may include laser or light therapy procedures, massage treatments, herbal wrap procedures VelaShape treatments and injections to dissolve the fat. Dr Khan will determine the most appropriate treatment approach for each individual patient based on a thorough evaluation of their skin condition and desired results.

Cellulite surgeries offered by Dr Misbah Khan includes power assisted liposuction using a vibrating cannula device, sectioning of all the fibrous bands that create dimples in the skin, body sculpting followed by laser-assisted lipolysis for additional skin tightening. This entire procedure is performed in one setting, under local anesthesia with a minimally invasive technique.

Dr Khan’s technique has a very high success rate and it involves recovery time limited to only 2-3 days. Patients return to work after that and resume their daily activities as soon as they can. Patients are advised to wear a special compression stocking for a few weeks after the surgery that helps to reduce swelling and bruising after the procedure and helps with body contouring after the procedure.
Dr Khan recommends all her patients to resume a special exercise program involving muscle toning exercises for the lower body especially outer thighs for at least 6 weeks after the surgery. These types of exercises help with increased blood flow through the skin and provide a faster recovery.

Dr Khan has treated several patients with this technique and has had tremendous success in the appearance of the cellulite with significant reduction in thigh circumference.
