A lipoma is a benign tumor of fat cells usually found just underneath the skin. Lipomas usually occur on the back, chest and sometimes on the arms and legs. Although benign in nature, they can sometimes be painful.
The exact cause of a lipoma is not clearly understood. However, there is a strong genetic tendency.
Lipomas usually do not regress but can become larger. Their treatment is surgical removal or so called surgical excision. If you like to know more about lipomas and their treatment for yourself, please call Dr Khan’s office to scheduled an appointment for consultation.
